Mike Bouchet: More Zero

Mike Bouchet’s recent series of “Colachrome” paintings at Galerie Parisa Kind are made with his self produced Diet Cola. His work displays a sensitivity and awareness of the many ways in which we are both the passive and active agents of mass corporate culture.

Bouchet has drawn inspiration from the graphics of new age concepts like Zero, Nothingness and Feelings, which have been used in combination with phrases of obedience, desire and More.

In addition to the Colachromes, Bouchet created new sculptures for the exhibition. This series of works, titled “Sylva Lounger,” are made from a shopping cart.

The humor of all of these works bears witness to the rigor of Bouchet’s engagement with today’s corporate consumer culture hegemony. Like a dark caffeinated drink, Bouchet’s work gives its audience more than what they want.
