Lina Bo Bardi

Standing to the IB archive’s record of invoicing by the studio, this P13 rocking armchair was requested three or four times only, hence its rarity. The peculiar shape is believed to be connected to drawings by Lina showing crouching people: she was very used to draw inspiration by the local culture and fashion, especially by the untouched Brazilians communities living in the most remote area of the country.
Lina Bo Bardi and Giancarlo Palanti often used plywood, almost always araucaria, lined with pau marfim or other Brazilian woods in beautiful shades. Plywood had the advantage of being a very durable material enabling a variety of shapes and the authenticity of this piece is told right by the plywood’s thickness (38mm).
