Description

In the era of our ancestors, life centered around collective efforts and strong family bonds. Some tasks, such as fishing and agriculture, were communal responsibilities. The pivotal act of rice threshing, particularly when modern milling machines were absent, relied on the use of the traditional “Doloin” machine.

During moonlit nights, the entire family participated in a variety of tasks. Some members operated the Doloin, meticulously separating rice from husks. Others were involved in transporting the harvested rice and paddy. Women in the family played a dual role, sorting rice from debris while also engaging in the making of traditional rice cakes and tea for the whole family.

In the midst of these practical pursuits, the air resonated with the melodies of traditional folksongs, serving as the soundtrack to our familial labor. I’ve depicted those beautiful moment on my canvas.
