Carl Hayano (b. USA 1934/35 Japanese-American)
Known for paintings of intense grid-like patterns of sushi and spring rolls - often combined with phallic pseudonyms such as “Dongers,” in the titling of works. Largest known public collection of Hayano’s work is held by Benedictine University, of Lisle, IL (totaling 6 works). Traditional chop mark/seal printed in red ink can often be seen on lower right hand corner of works.

Chicago Art Institute Vicinity Exhibitions - 1957, 1962, 1966 & 1981.
The Renaissance Society’s 1971 Exhibition, “The New Curiosity Shop.”
North Shore Art League 1986 Exhibition “New Horizons.”
Hyde Park Art Center’s “The Body,” Exhibition. Date Unknown.
Former Faculty of Northern Illinois University.
Served as Graduate Director in late 1980s.
